    Iowa Land Title Association Benefits of Membership

As a member of the Iowa Land Title Association (ILTA), you will become part of a network of land title professionals dedicated to the mission of the Association.  The Iowa Land Title Association, the recognized voice of the real estate title industry in the state of Iowa, sets the standards of professional excellence and technical competence for the lasting benefit of the public and the industry.

Active Membership:  Any Iowa resident, Iowa firm or Iowa domestic corporation that primarily engages in the business of abstracting, or title research services, subscribes and adheres to the Code of Ethics of the Association and agrees to be governed by the Bylaws of the Association shall be eligible for Active membership in the Association.  Active member benefits apply to all members and/or employees of an Active member firm or corporation.  FORM

Associate Membership:  Associate membership shall be limited to those not qualified for Active membership. Associate membership shall be available to any person, firm or corporation or other business entity engaged in providing services related to the land title industry, subscribes and adheres to the Code of Ethics of the Association and agrees to be governed by the Bylaws of the Association shall be eligible for Associate membership in the Association.  FORM

Honorary Membership:  The Board, upon nomination from the Membership Chair, or on its own motion, may award Honorary membership to any person for the performance of distinguished and meritorious service to the Association or to the land title industry. Honorary Membership is available only to members that do not qualify for Active, Associate or Underwriter Membership in the Association.  FORM

ILTA/ALTA Principles of Fair Conduct:

  • To engage only in business practices that are lawful and consistent with a high standard of ethical behavior.
  • To encourage a culture of compliance within their organizations for federal and state laws that govern the title insurance business and title-related services, and for these Principles.
  • To treat consumers in a fair and ethical manner.
  • To provide consumers with timely and comprehensive information regarding their policies, services, products, and prices so as to enable consumers to shop effectively among providers of title-related services.
  • To encourage and assist consumers to be educated purchasers of title insurance and title-related services.
